Text Box: Course Summary

All you need for the course is a telephone and an internet connection to download the mock oral case.  The mock oral board preparation is carried out by phone conversation or SKYPE at a pre-determined time as selected by the examinee. The mock oral exams are specially designed to simulate the high stresses experienced during the actual  exam. Detailed feedback will be given for each response afterwards.  On average, each mock oral session lasts 1.5 hours.

Text Box: Course Structure

Speaking in public and for the oral examination is an art.  The “art form”  cannot be learned overnight.  For this reason, we have structured the course to be spread out over a four month period before your scheduled exam date.  To optimize your learning and before you sign up for this course, we recommend that you are familiar with ACLS algorithms, BLS, PALS, neonatal resuscitation, and emergency airway algorithms.  Mock orals are once a week and will increase in frequency  as the exam period approaches.

Mock orals are scheduled in Eastern Standard Time at even numbered hours starting at 4PM, 6PM, 8PM, and 10PM on the weekdays .  On weekends, they are scheduled at two hour intervals starting at 8AM through 6PM.

We are currently accepting candidates for the April 2010 exam.  Reserve your spot and register now.

Text Box: Six Track Options

The first three tracks are composed of 4 mock oral exams (session I  and session II count as 2 exams).  The fee for a series of 4 mock orals will be $850.  Each mock oral includes one stem case and three grab bag questions.  The candidate is free to switch tracks of equal value without penalty during the same eligibility period, but the total number of exams will be no more than 4 exams per paid track period.

A series of 4 exams based on random topics.  This is ideal for the more experienced candidate or for the candidate exploring his/her weakness.  This is the second most popular Track selection.

A series of 4 exams based on topics that the candidate wants or needs more practice with (e.g. cardiac, neuro, peds, or OB).

A series of 4 exams that go stepwise through the 4 different anesthesiology topics (e.g. Exam I is cardiac, Exam II is neuro, Exam III is peds, and Exam IV is OB).  This is designed for  a candidate who prefers a more structured study regimen.

This is “pay as you go” section.  The candidate pays $220 per exam of his/her choosing (e.g. subject area or random).

Text Box: Track 6: Rapid Sequence Option

This is the grab bag section only.  The candidate pays $100 for a series of 5 grab bag questions per session.

The candidate saves time and money when ordering the “complete” package. The candidate gets 24 random mock stems and 100 grab bag questions for $4700. (Spots limited)  This is the most popular Track selection.

After payment is received, the candidate is considered “active” and eligible to complete the mock oral board session(s) at any time once payment is confirmed but not less than 24 hours of his/her scheduled oral board certification exam as assigned by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).  The candidate is considered “inactive” once he/she has taken the ABA exam for credit or when the eligibility period ends, whichever occurs first.
